FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is it normal to feel them super snug at first?
Yes! Our huarache shoes are made tight so that they can mold to your exact feet shape which gives them an extra level of comfort. Remember that every time you wear them the shoes become softer and softer. In fact, they are the most comfortable travel shoes! If you feel them loose at first, when they soften they might become too big.
What size should I get? Are they true to size?
Shoes with a back: Round down, if you normally wear a size 7.5, round down to a 7 to assure a snug fit. It might feel super tight at first, but the leather huarache sandals stretch to the shape of your feet within a wear or two.
For slides: Because the slides don’t have a heel, it doesn’t matter how snug they are, but our customers prefer a longer sole. If you normally wear a size 7.5, do an 8.
How do you give back?
Espiritu is proud to be a fair trade company. Anyone looking to work in our factory is welcome any day, as long as they’re ready to work 30 mins prior to opening, and come to work drug/alcohol free. We pay each Mexican Artisan per pair that they do, and they are trained to our quality standards. Our facility is a safe environment for anyone to work in great conditions. Espiritu’s mission also promotes the arts and culture of Mexico, and we create events to allow everyone to showcase their art. For more information about our future events check us out on Instagram @EspirituCulture or sign up to our mailing list.
What makes Espiritu superior quality?
Our Mexican leather shoes are made with traditional techniques representative of Southern Mexico. In Espiritu, we implement a system that ensures quality control in sizing, color, material quality, and standards for a long lasting fit. We add 3 layers of cushioning to our insoles; we incorporated arch support, and switched our leathers to genuine quality to ensure the softest fit. Our vegetable based dyes are another great ethically-made shoe technique to assure an organic elaboration.
Who owns Espiritu?
Espiritu is owned and operated by Francisco Alvarez and Oscar Yapor, both Mexican citizens who lived most of their life in Mexico, and who share the respect for the traditional arts and artisan products.
